World context
Context
Isle Lab is an experimental product and the proving ground for Zafiro. It brings world composition, authoring, placeables, environment policy and browser interaction into one coherent workspace without becoming the platform itself.
Outcome
An immersive world-building environment that tests Zafiro as a complete product, bringing runtime, authoring, placeables, world data and environment composition together instead of validating them only in isolated demos.
Constraint
Enable fast experiments across authoring, worlds, runtime and performance without turning Isle Lab into an accidental shared dependency for every other product.

Decision ledger
Product decisions
- Keep the world shell, interface and workflow owned by the Isle Lab product.
- Maintain product-specific authoring, placeables, points of interest, slot/template flow and performance harnesses inside Isle Lab.
- Incubate features whose reusable meaning is still uncertain within the product.
- Promote a feature into Zafiro only after removing Isle Lab-specific semantics and policy.
- Use a separate product entrypoint and a dedicated public showcase route.

Authoring environment

Engineering
Engineering
- Coordinating world data with editable terrain and product-owned authoring tools.
- Managing dynamic placeables and points of interest inside an explorable scene.
- Keeping day, night and broader environment policy coherent across authoring and exploration.
- Testing distance representation and performance behaviour at world scale.
- Maintaining a clear boundary between an experimental product and reusable platform layers.
Proof ledger
Evidence
Isle Lab has an active, separate product namespace and entrypoint.
Product architecture documentation
A dedicated Isle Lab showcase is publicly accessible.
The product consumes Zafiro Core, World Runtime, scene-content capabilities and World Data while retaining its own workflow.
Product architecture documentation
Original Isle Lab recordings are included as demonstration media in the standalone Projective Media sandbox.
Scope
Limitations
- Isle Lab remains experimental and under active development.
- It is not positioned as a finished business tool for a broad end-user audience.
- Some capabilities intentionally remain product-owned while their reusable meaning is evaluated.
- Historical world-6 support remains part of the current codebase.
